KTC, the World’s No. 1 Testing Certification Institute Leading the Way to the 4th Industrial Revolution
The Machinery Industry Skills Council (Machinery ISC) of the Korean Testing Certification Institute conducted the “2026 Physical AI-Based Convergence Competency Enhancement Training Program” for teachers and education professionals in Gyeongsangnam-do Province from August 3 to 6.
The program was designed to incorporate changes in machinery and smart factory occupations driven by digital transformation (DX) and the growing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) into vocational high school education.
It also aimed to strengthen teachers’ capabilities in providing convergence-based practical instruction.
Officially designated by the Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education as a specialized training program, the course was held under the theme “Strengthening Teachers’ Competencies Through Field-Connected Smart Factory Training Based on Physical AI.”
It took place at the Department of Logistics Automation Systems at Korea Polytechnics Changwon Campus.
The program comprised 24 hours of training.
Its practice-oriented curriculum covered an introduction to Physical AI architecture, development environment configuration and Linux, Python-based hardware control, data acquisition interfaces, precision motion and motor control, and generative AI coding assistance.
The course focused on integrated practical exercises connecting motors, control systems, machine vision, and robotics, rather than relying solely on theoretical instruction.
Participating teachers learned how sensors and data acquisition, motion control, machine vision, robot control, and AI modeling are integrated into actual smart factory processes.
Based on this training, they also gained hands-on experience in building and operating a smart sorting process.
Through the program, the Machinery ISC helped educators understand how Physical AI technologies are connected to changing occupational roles in the machinery industry.
The training also established a foundation for vocational high school students to gain a more concrete understanding of future careers involving smart factories, automation, robotics, and AI-based equipment operation.
President Sung-il Ahn of the Korean Testing Certification Institute emphasized that the machinery industry is rapidly becoming more intelligent through the convergence of AI, the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, and data-driven control technologies.
He stated that these changes should be directly incorporated into vocational high school education.
He also announced that the Machinery ISC would expand field-oriented training and curriculum-linked projects connecting industry with education, thereby strengthening vocational high school students’ ability to respond to future industrial changes.
The program was jointly planned and operated by the Machinery ISC, Korea Polytechnics Changwon Campus, the Gyeongnam Regional Skills Council, and the Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education.
Building on this Physical AI-based convergence competency training program, the Machinery ISC plans to continuously expand hands-on courses in smart factories, AI, robotics, and automation for vocational high school teachers.
