In this national certification program, a factory assessment of the equipment or the product assessment is conducted for the equipment that is subject to the payment of the subsidies or the installation of them are mandatory. Once the test subject is found to satisfy the government's requirements for certification and the quality/performance requirements, the government issues a KS certification mark along with a written certificate.
This renewable energy equipment certification program was introduced in 2003, with a view to promote the use of renewable energies and invigorate the related industries. Due to the government's policy to integrate the related certification programs in order to reduce the burden of businesses in having to obtain multiple certificates, the program is now converted into and implemented as the KS certification program starting from July 29, 2015.
