Overview
The purpose of this program is to conduct type approval and inspection for the maritime decontamination materials and chemicals to ensure effective decontamination of the oil spill or other contaminations at sea so that effective materials and chemicals can be used in such a purpose, eventually protecting the water resources and marine ecosystems.
Scope of services
- Oil fence (A, B, and C types)
- Oil treating chemicals (normal, concentrated)
- Oil absorbent (mat, cushion, roll, rope, and boom type)
- Oil coagulator (liquid, solids)
- Other maritime decontamination materials are deemed necessary by the head of the Korea Coast Guard.
Inspection process
If a manufacturer who obtained a type approval wishes to receive an inspection, it should submit a test request form and the free to the Product Safety Team.
Test period and fee
*In a simplified test, only the test items which take no more than 24 hours to test are tested among the specified test items.
Storage of the sample materials and chemicals
The company with a type approval certificate must furnish the materials and samples which passed a performance test as samples in its place of manufacture (if the material or chemical is imported, a place of business).
