Purpose of the program
- The Ministry of SME and Startups provides support to SME's new R&D efforts for new projects or import alternatives in cooperation with client organizations (the government, public agencies, private businesses)
- The newly developed products are purchased by the client organizations, in an arrangement that an SME carries out the development projects for client organizations to help stabilize the operation of SMEs via technological innovations and securing sales while saving foreign currencies.
Supports provided
- Up to 75% of the total R&D cost (or up to 55% for private sector project), within a limit of 300 million won. When the technology is successfully developed, the beneficiary is to pay 20% of the government aids as a technical license fee.
- An applicant can apply for a single project, which can be completed within two years.
- The total budget available for aids: 30 billion won (2007)
- Call for proposal: Two times a year (in February and June)
- Eligibility: SMEs with a factory registration certificate.
However, small businesses, S/W businesses, companies with a corporate laboratory, or a tenant company in a start-up incubator facility can apply only with a business registration certificate.
