Overview of Halal Certification

Overview of Halal Certification

Halal logo

Halal certification is a system that verifies whether a product complies with Islamic law. The term "Halal" originates from Arabic, meaning "permissible" or "lawful." Halal certification is granted to products and services that are produced through safe and clean processes, in accordance with Islamic law, ensuring that Muslims can use them with confidence. This certification applies not only to food but also to a wide range of products, including fashion, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and more. It is an essential requirement for entering markets in predominantly Muslim societies, where faith-based standards are of utmost importance.

Halal Certification Scope

Products eligible for Halal certification include food, beverages, pharmaceuticals, household goods, cosmetics, chemical products, textiles, packaging, and packaging materials. Products containing Haram (forbidden substances), such as pork, blood, or alcohol, are excluded from certification. KTC can provide certification services for the categories listed in [Table 1].

KTC Halal Certification Services

KTC has signed a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) with the Indonesian Halal Authority (BPJPH), becoming an officially recognized Halal certification body. KTC provides Halal certification services for domestic products, which are recognized in Indonesia. Our certification services support exports not only to Indonesia but also to various regions, including the Middle East and ASEAN countries, as part of KTC's goal to become a global Halal certification leader.

BPJPH Logo

BPJPH, established in 2017 under the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, is responsible for the assurance of Halal products. As the primary authority managing Halal certification, BPJPH develops policies and regulations, designates certification bodies, and oversees the issuance and management of Halal certificates. Through our MRA with BPJPH, products certified by KTC can be exported to Indonesia.
For more information, visit the BPJPH website. https://bpjph.halal.go.id/

Halal Certification Mark

Products certified under the Indonesian Halal standards must bear the Indonesian Halal label as per BPJPH regulations No. 40/22 and No. 88/2022. The label includes the Halal logo and the Halal certification number (foreign registration number). There are two types of logos: the standard logo for regular packaging and an alternative logo for special cases, such as banners or billboards.
