The Korea Testing Certification Institute (KTC, President Seong-Il Ahn) announced on the 5th that it has signed an MOU with the Korea Electronics Association (KEA, President Jong-Hee Han) for one-stop support of ICT companies.
The agreement was signed on the 5th at 11:00 AM in Conference Room A at KEA headquarters in Sangam, Seoul, attended by Seong-Il Ahn, President of KTC, and Chung-Won Park, Executive Vice President of KEA, along with other officials from both organizations.
The key points of the agreement include:
Information exchange in strategic ICT technology areas such as AI, software, IoT (Internet of Things) cybersecurity, smart appliances, and 5G/6G.
Building a cooperative network to foster ICT companies.
Supporting ICT R&D testing and certification.
Additionally, the organizations agreed to:
Promote and jointly utilize the KEA Electronics Manufacturing Support Center and the XR Demonstration Center.
Offer up to a 10% discount on testing and inspection costs for results produced by institutions performing CC, GS, and ICT R&D.
The agreement specifically focuses on supporting export companies to respond to increasingly stringent IoT cybersecurity regulations in domestic and international markets.
Recent trends show the growing importance of IoT security due to evolving hacking methods. The UK implemented the world's first mandatory IoT security legislation in April this year, and the EU, the US, and Japan are also pursuing mandatory security certification laws.
Through this agreement, KTC anticipates providing one-stop support for SMEs and mid-sized companies, covering product and service development, certification testing, product launch, data analysis, and marketing.
As the first event following the MOU, KTC and KEA will host an "Overseas IoT Cybersecurity Conference" for home appliance and electronics companies on June 27 at the Electronics Hall in Sangam-dong, Seoul.
Seong-Il Ahn, President of KTC, stated, “This agreement establishes a foundation for rapidly responding to the fast-changing ICT market trends and supporting companies. We will continue to spare no effort in supporting export companies in the ICT sector, which is one of the key national projects.”
