The Korea Testing & Research Institute (KTC, President An Sung-il) announced on the 26th that it would host the "Interdepartmental Medical Device Commercialization Support Governance Integration Forum."

This event will be held on the 27th at the Diamond Hall on the 22nd floor of The Plaza Hotel in Seoul, co-hosted by the Interdepartmental Medical Device Research and Development Project Group (Director Kim Beom-min) and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (Minister Oh Yoo-kyung), and jointly organized by KTC and Yonsei University Medical Center (Director Geum Ki-chang).

The Interdepartmental Medical Device Research and Development Project Group: An organization formed by the Ministry of Science and ICT, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety to support the entire cycle of medical device development (from technology development to commercialization, clinical trials, and approval) to lead the future market.

The event, themed "Current and Future Reliability Assessment Technologies for Medical Devices," will be simultaneously broadcast online and offline through the official YouTube channel of the Interdepartmental Medical Device Research and Development Project Group.

The program will be divided into two main sessions: "Reliability and Reliability Assessment Technologies for Medical Devices" and "Reliability and Support Projects from the Perspective of Users and Developers," starting with an opening speech by Director Kim Beom-min.

In the first session, former Vice President of the Korea Testing Laboratory, Park Jung-won, will present on the "Essential Concepts and Evaluation Techniques of Reliability," and Dean Yoon Seok-jun of Korea University School of Public Health will present on "Enhancing and Expanding the Reliability of Domestic Medical Devices."

Additionally, Anthony Ciccarello, Chair of the ISO TC121 and IEC SyC AAL, will present on the topic "The Relationship Between Medical Device Reliability, Standards, and Regulations."

TC121: Technical Committee developing standards for anesthesia and respiratory equipment.

IEC SyC AAL (System Committee Active Assisted Living): A system committee of the International Electrotechnical Commission focusing on developing technical systems and services to support the elderly and disabled.

In the second session, KTC Biohealth Center Director Kim Tae-won will present on "Development and Support of Medical Device Reliability Assessment Technologies," and Yonsei Medical Center Professor Han Tae-hwa will present on "Establishing a Global-Level Health IT Specialized Reliability Assessment Testing Center and Corporate Support Through Interdepartmental Project Connections."

The event aims to share the progress of projects from various institutions on "Developing and Supporting Reliability and Medical Device Reliability Assessment Technologies from the Perspective of Real Users" required in clinical settings.

KTC plans to raise awareness of reliability assessment technologies among researchers, users, and evaluation agencies through this forum.

KTC President An Sung-il stated, "We will continue to actively cooperate and provide support so that our companies can lead the global market," and added, "I hope this event will serve as an opportunity to share the latest trends in medical device reliability assessment technologies and to re-recognize the importance of reliability assessment technologies for further development."
