Korea Testing Certification institute (KTC) announced on the 24th that it has entered into a business agreement with Korea Federation of Furniture Industry Cooperatives (hereinafter referred to as the KFFIC) to enhance the quality of the furniture industry and strengthen the competitiveness of businesses. Both organizations have pledged mutual cooperation in areas such as ▲furniture testing and certification ▲joint planning of R&D projects ▲exchange of technical information ▲and other necessary measures to enhance industrial competitiveness. They have also agreed to collaborate using their human and material resources to contribute to the development of the domestic furniture industry. According to statistics from Statistics Korea, domestic furniture retail sales surpassed 10 trillion won in 2022, experiencing a nearly 30% increase compared to the pre-COVID-19 year of 2019. However, due to recent economic downturns and stagnation in demand, furniture companies are struggling to find breakthroughs. In support of these related businesses, KTC will offer one-stop furniture testing and certification services to member companies of the KFFIC. Through this, companies are expected to save on costs and time for certification, enabling them to focus more on new product research and development as well as quality improvement. Meanwhile, the signing ceremony took place at the Ilsan KINTEX Hall 1, where the Korea International Furniture and Interior Fair (referred to as KOFURN) hosted by the KFFIC is being held. KTC is operating a promotional booth at KOFURN to introduce furniture-related KS (Korean Standards) and environmental certification acquisition methods to participating companies. President Sungil Ahn of KTC participated in the opening event, shared opinions on the development of the furniture industry with domestic and foreign guests, visited participating company booths, and expressed, "As a strong supporter of the smart furniture industry, through this business agreement, KTC will expand furniture testing and certification, and closely cooperate with the KFFIC to contribute to the advancement of the furniture industry." The largest domestic furniture exhibition, KOFURN, will be held from August 24th to 27th. This event, where the latest designs and trends in furniture can be witnessed, is concurrently hosted with the Wood Fair 2023 and Korea International Woodworking Machinery Fair.
