KTC, the World’s No. 1 Testing Certification Institute Leading the Way to the 4th Industrial Revolution
Korea Testing Certification institute (KTC) announced that it participated in the inauguration ceremony of the "Metaverse Industry Standardization Forum" held on July 13th at the Seoul Josun Palace Hotel, with the aim of establishing international standards for the metaverse industry.
The metaverse is a rapidly growing field, and the global metaverse market is projected to grow at an average annual rate of 44.5%, reaching $1.3 trillion in 2030 from $51.6 billion in 2021. The domestic metaverse market is also predicted to reach 400 trillion won in 2030, and recently, domestic companies such as LG Electronics, SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus have actively entered the metaverse market as a new business.
For the development of the metaverse industry, international standards for interoperability between metaverse devices and platforms that can be universally applied worldwide, as well as the performance of AR and VR devices, need to be established. As the only domestic testing and certification organization and a domestic affiliate agency of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) TC100, KTC plans to participate in this forum and take the lead in promoting the metaverse international standardization roadmap and standard development. Under the forum, KTC will serve as the chairman of the policy subcommittee (Division Head Mun-hwan Han) and as a member of the standard development subcommittee (Junior Researcher Jack Kim). Through forum activities, KTC aims to provide systematic support for standard technical consulting for domestic industries and testing and certification to facilitate exports by Korean companies.
