Korea Testing Certification Institute (KTC) announced the signing of an MOU with the Federation of Middle Market Enterprises of Korea (referred to as "FOMEK") on the 18th. The objective is to support the enhancement of technological competitiveness for domestic medium-sized enterprises and their expansion into overseas markets.

The two organizations have committed to collaborating on technology and standards development, providing customized testing and certification support for the "15 Core Industries of Medium-Sized Enterprises." These industries include future mobility, advanced bio, next-generation information and communication, and renewable energy. Additionally, they will work together to facilitate company growth through activities such as local market research, buyer discovery for overseas market entry by medium-sized enterprises, and technology consulting support for open innovation between medium-sized enterprises and startups.

According to the 2021 survey on the current status of medium-sized enterprises, the investment amount of medium-sized enterprises in Korea reached 30.7 trillion won, a 15.2% increase compared to the previous year. Furthermore, 52.8% of medium-sized enterprises in the manufacturing sector were found to be engaged in new businesses such as future vehicles, energy, and bio-health. Considering these findings, KTC plans to actively cooperate with FOMEK to support the growth of medium-sized enterprises into large companies through technology and standards development, domestic and international certification acquisition, and R&D and commercialization technology support.

Sungil Ahn, President of KTC, stated, "There are significant intersections between KTC's 13 strategic fields and the 15 core industries of medium-sized enterprises, enabling us to provide substantial support tailored to the needs of companies." He further expressed, "We will spare no effort in supporting Korean medium-sized enterprises to enhance their technological and competitive capabilities and lead industrial development."
