KTC-KISIA Signs MOU to Support Growth and Overseas Expansion of Information Security Industry
Date 2023-06-16 Views459

Korea Testing Certification institute (KTC) and the Korea Information Security Industry Association (KISIA) announced on June 8th that they have signed an MOU to support the growth and overseas expansion of domestic information security companies.

The two organizations have pledged to cooperate in various areas, including testing, evaluation, technical support, and R&D for emerging cyber-security technologies in fields such as IoT, vehicles, AI, metaverse, and blockchain. Moreover, they are expected to contribute to the development of related industries by supporting domestic and international testing and certification for information security and cyber-security companies, as well as by fostering human resource development.

Additionally, KTC will provide benefits in the form of fee reductions for software quality certification (GS certification) testing for KISIA member companies. This will enable companies to save up to KRW 7.5 million* in certification acquisition costs, allowing them to focus their efforts on research and development of new products and expanding into international markets.

The global cyber-security market is projected to grow at an annual average rate of 9.6% from 2022, reaching approximately KRW 247 trillion by 2026. Furthermore, the export revenue of the domestic information security industry has been steadily increasing, with a growth of around 8.5% to KRW 2.767 trillion in 2021 compared to the previous year.

To support the growth and overseas expansion of domestic information security companies, KTC offers testing and certification support. As the sole testing and certification organization in Korea with information and communication units at its headquarters, KTC provides services such as information security product evaluation (CC evaluation), GS certification, and information security certification for IoT devices (IoT security). It is also at the forefront of cyber-security testing in areas including IoT and medical device cyber-security testing, having been designated as a cyber-security testing organization by NEMKO, a global certification body based in Norway.

KISIA, as a leading organization in information security and cyber-security, is actively working on various fronts to foster the growth of the domestic information security industry. In line with the government's key project, the "Cyber Security 100,000 Talent Development Plan," KISIA is enhancing the quality and quantity of information security professionals through various educational programs, including S-developers and security academies. It also focuses on supporting the overseas expansion of domestic companies and the growth of startups in the United States, Israel, Southeast Asia, and Japan. Additionally, KISIA plays a bridging role in improving industry regulations by supporting the introduction of the Rapid Confirmation System and the enhancement of procurement systems. It also organizes events such as Information Security Day and Month to raise public awareness of information security.

President Sungil Ahn of KTC stated, "Through close collaboration between the two organizations, we will alleviate the testing and certification burdens of KISIA member companies, effectively respond to international certification regulations, and actively support the global market entry of Korean cyber-security companies."

Chairman Lee Dong-beom of KISIA expressed his deep appreciation for the establishment of an organic cooperative system between KTC and domestic security companies, stating, "We will spare no effort in providing more opportunities for companies in the future."
