KTC, the World’s No. 1 Testing Certification Institute Leading the Way to the 4th Industrial Revolution
Korea Testing Certification institute (KTC) has announced its participation in the "ISO TC299(Robotics) Working Group(WGs) meeting" taking place from June 19th to 23rd at the Sonofelice Convention in Seoul. The aim of the conference is to enhance international exchange and collaboration in the field of robotics.
During the meeting, KTC will showcase its testing and evaluation capabilities in robotics and present measures for domestic and international certification acquisition. The objective is to support companies in their export endeavors. KTC also intends to introduce the 13 major strategic areas related to digital and green transformation, where the institute excels, to help domestic companies lead in the increasingly complex and converging industries. Additionally, KTC aims to strengthen its cooperation with both domestic and international organizations involved in the international standardization of the robotics industry.
The robotics sector is experiencing rapid growth globally, with the market projected to reach $160 billion by 2030, up from $25 billion in 2020. The domestic market in South Korea is also expected to exhibit continuous growth, expanding from KRW 5 trillion in 2021 to KRW 870 trillion by 2030.
To support the growth of domestic robotics companies and their expansion into international markets, KTC is actively involved in testing and certification. As the robotics industry combines software and hardware, the demand for testing and certification in this field is evolving. In response, KTC is enhancing its capabilities in information and communication technology, electrical and electronic engineering, and software support functions, in addition to its existing support for traditional industries.
Furthermore, KTC excels in the evaluation of components in the field of intelligent robotics, which is one of its strategic areas. Alongside testing and evaluation services for robot-related components such as motors, reducers, and batteries, KTC provides participation in national R&D projects and offers certification consulting services in the robotics field.
KTC's President, Sungil Ahn, stated that participating in the International Standardization Conference on Robotics is part of the institute's collaborative efforts to support South Korea in setting technological standards and enable domestic companies to excel in the global market. President Ahn emphasized their commitment to enhancing company competitiveness and facilitating the export of robotics products by leveraging KTC's testing and evaluation capabilities.
The ISO TC299(Robotics) WGs meeting, with the participation of more than 130 experts from 10 countries worldwide, is expected to play a significant role in developing and advancing international standards in robotics. Key topics for discussion include the safety of industrial robots, performance of service robots, and software modules.
