KTC Participates in the 4th International Sleep and Health Expo 'SleepTech 2023'
Date 2023-07-07 Views473

Korea Testing Certification institute (KTC) announced its participation in the 'SleepTech 2023, the International Sleep Tech & Healthcare Expo' (hereinafter referred to as SleepTech 2023), the largest domestic sleep industry exhibition, which will be held at COEX in Seoul from July 7th to 9th.

Through its booth participation, KTC will introduce the 'Support Program for Establishing a Sleep Industry Demonstration Base and Technological Advancement' and methods for testing and certification acquisition to institutions and companies in the sleep industry. In addition, KTC will participate in technology conferences and present the current status of the sleep industry promotion center and sleep product standards.

With the increasing interest in improving sleep quality and quality of life, the sleep industry is emerging as a new sector. The global sleep industry is expected to reach $32.1 billion in 2026, up from $15 billion in 2021, making it a promising growth driver. To support the development of promising companies in the industry, KTC is participating in the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's 'Support Program for Establishing a Sleep Industry Demonstration Base and Technological Advancement'. The project involves various organizations, including KTC, Chungnam Techno Park, Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine, Seoul National University Hospital, Daejeon University Cheonan Oriental Hospital, and Soon Chun Hyang University Hospital, and a total of 24 billion KRW will be invested by 2023 to create a sleep industry ecosystem.

As the final stage of establishing the foundation, the Sleep Industry Promotion Center will be opened in Asan, Chungnam in November this year. KTC will be responsible for establishing sleep-friendly product demonstration services and conducting verification evaluations. Through this, KTC expects to enhance consumer confidence in sleep-friendly products and contribute to the successful commercialization of companies.

Furthermore, with a focus on the bio-health field, KTC can provide optimal services to medical device companies in the sleep industry. Recently, the European Union has strengthened the medical device management system from the existing guidelines (MDD) to regulations (MDR), requiring thorough preparations by companies. In response, KTC plans to establish a cooperative relationship with European MDR certification agencies to support domestic sleep industry companies in obtaining European medical device certifications and smooth entry into overseas markets.

Sungil Ahn, President of KTC, stated, "Based on our testing and evaluation capabilities, we will focus on creating a sleep industry ecosystem through the Sleep Industry Promotion Center, which will open in the second half of this year, to enhance the competitiveness and export capabilities of sleep companies and ultimately enable the domestic sleep industry to have global competitiveness."

Meanwhile, at 'SleepTech 2023,' which aims for the progressive coexistence of sleep and healthcare companies, attendees can explore the market trends and technological advancements of products that combine traditional sleep industries such as bedding with IT, AI, big data, and more.
