KTC, the World’s No. 1 Testing Certification Institute Leading the Way to the 4th Industrial Revolution
Korea Testing Certification institute (KTC) announced on May 19th that it has been designated as the official testing organization for fishing tackle and artificial baits by the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute.
With this designation, KTC is now fully equipped to conduct comprehensive testing for fishing tackle and artificial baits. The institute aims to provide efficient and accurate testing services to companies in the fishing tackle industry, ensuring compliance with safety standards at reasonable costs.
Under Article 5 of the Fishing Management and Cultivation Act, hazardous substances such as lead, arsenic, chromium, and cadmium are strictly regulated. Companies found selling fishing tackle with hazardous substances exceeding the permissible limits will be subject to fines and penalties.
Similar to the alarming cases of lead poisoning in birds resulting from discarded fishing tackle, small-sized fishing tackle may contain hazardous substances like lead, which can be easily ingested by aquatic organisms and accumulate through the food chain. Therefore, the significance of testing fishing tackle and artificial baits cannot be overstated.
President Sungil Ahn of KTC expressed his commitment, stating, "As the designated testing organization for fishing tackle and artificial baits, we will ensure the objectivity and reliability of our experimental analyses. Our efforts will not only contribute to consumer product safety but also play a vital role in safeguarding aquatic ecosystems and fisheries resources."
KTC holds a prominent position as the leading internationally accredited testing and certification organization in Korea. Its extensive range of testing and inspection services covers various consumer products, including household goods, children's products, and household chemicals, ensuring the highest standards of safety.
