KTC, the World’s No. 1 Testing Certification Institute Leading the Way to the 4th Industrial Revolution
"Assistance in Obtaining European Certification in the IoT Cybersecurity Field"
On March 6th, Korea Testing Certification institute (KTC) announced that it has been designated as the first delegated testing agency for European certification in the IoT cybersecurity field through a business agreement with NEMKO*, based in Norway.
*NEMKO: A global testing and certification organization headquartered in Norway, providing certification services in over 150 countries worldwide, including North America, Europe, and Asia. It specializes in wireless devices.
With this designation, domestic manufacturing companies seeking to export to 27 EU member countries, including Germany, France, and Norway, can now obtain the CE Mark using the cybersecurity test reports provided by KTC, eliminating the need to send samples locally. This significantly enhances business convenience.
The export value of domestic wireless device manufacturers to major European countries has increased from KRW 810 billion in 2019 to KRW 2.7637 trillion in 2022. This trend is expected to continue as industries undergo digital transformation and convergence.
Furthermore, in Europe, the mandatory application of cybersecurity for wireless communication devices such as smartphones, tablets, and smart machines is scheduled to be enforced by August 2024. The emphasis on cybersecurity continues, creating opportunities for more Korean companies to support their European exports in the future.
KTC is the only testing and certification organization in South Korea that operates in the information and communication sectors at the headquarters level. It provides testing services such as Common Criteria Certification (CC), GS certification, and information protection certification (IoT security). KTC leads the cybersecurity testing field for IoT and medical devices.
President Sungil Ahn of KTC stated, "We will swiftly respond to the strengthening of international cybersecurity regulations and act as a catalyst for the overseas export of domestic IoT manufacturing companies."
