KTC Participates in the 2023 Seoul Mobility Show

Korea Testing Certification institute (KTC)  has announced its participation in the 2023 Seoul Mobility Show, which took place from March 30th to April 9th at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. The purpose of KTC's participation was to showcase its core testing and evaluation capabilities in the electric vehicle (EV) industry and to introduce domestic and international certification acquisition and export support measures.

Electric vehicles represent a field that embodies the industry's transition to digital, green, and convergence technologies. At the exhibition, KTC shared various domestic and international testing, certification, and export support measures related to the EV industry while actively listening to the voices and concerns of industry professionals.

As an IECEE CB Testing Laboratory specializing in electric vehicle chargers and the only UL Solutions testing facility in Korea, KTC introduced a convenient and efficient method for Korean companies to obtain the necessary overseas certifications for exporting to major countries worldwide, including North America, Europe, and Asia, using KTC test reports.

Furthermore, KTC provided information on the latest technical standards related to electric vehicle chargers and offered a streamlined approach to acquiring mandatory approvals and safety certifications required for domestic sales.

In the field of information and communication, KTC supported testing and certification related to wireless communication and electromagnetic compatibility for EV components. They also introduced one-stop services for evaluating information security and software quality, which are essential for ensuring interoperability between electric vehicles and charging systems.

Notably, KTC recently entered into a business agreement with NEMKO to become the first domestic testing and certification organization to serve as a representative testing agency for IoT cyber security certification in Europe. They presented options for Korean manufacturers to obtain CE Certification using KTC's cyber security test reports and discussed strategies to comply with the upcoming mandatory cyber security requirements for wireless communication devices in Europe, set to be implemented in August 2024.

KTC also shared domestic and international testing, certification, and support measures for various battery fields, ranging from small IT devices to large-scale applications such as EVs and energy storage systems. They discussed the KC safety inspection system for reusable batteries, scheduled to be implemented in October, and provided a platform for companies to voice their challenges in overseas exports.

In the motor field, KTC aimed to provide integrated solutions for the design, development, performance evaluation, and reliability testing of motors and generators used in electric vehicles, general machinery, robots, small wind power, and other applications, catering to the diverse needs of businesses.

President Sungil Ahn of KTC attended the opening ceremony, where he shared his opinions on key domestic and international issues and the future vision of the mobility industry. He also visited the booths of participating companies to listen to their views. He stated, "Based on our capabilities in EV testing and evaluation, we will support manufacturers in new product development, testing, certification, and overseas exports, contributing to the expansion of electric vehicle adoption and the growth of the mobility industry."

The 2023 Seoul Mobility Show expanded its total exhibition area to 53,541 square meters, more than double the size of the previous event. With the participation of over 160 companies and organizations from 10 countries worldwide, the show aimed to highlight various mobility contents and present a blueprint for the future of the mobility industry through advanced technologies.
