The Korea Testing Certification Institute (KTC, President An Sung-il) announced on the 22nd that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Institute for Aerospace Industry-Academia Convergence (IAIAC, President Yoo Chang-kyung) on the 21st for mutual development in the AAM industry sector.

AAM (Advanced Air Mobility): Advanced Air Mobility, referring to aircraft capable of operating beyond urban areas to island and mountainous regions.

The agreement ceremony took place at 2 PM on the 21st at the IAIAC main conference room in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, attended by 15 officials including KTC President An Sung-il and IAIAC President Yoo Chang-kyung.

The agreement covers △ testing and evaluation of parts, products, and infrastructure in the AAM sector and the establishment of domestic and international certification standards △ utilization of testing and certification infrastructure and exchange of the latest technical standards and information △ cooperation in government (demonstration) projects and company-linked tasks.

AAM is an expanded concept of UAM (Urban Air Mobility), which is tailored for urban areas. According to Precedence Research, the global AAM market size is expected to grow fivefold from $8.93 billion (approximately 12 trillion won) in 2022 to $45.12 billion (approximately 60 trillion won) by 2030.

Since July last year, KTC has been securing and executing essential R&D projects for the development of the AAM industry. Additionally, KTC continues to develop technical standards and support research activities for products, components, and systems in the aviation and space fields.

Through this agreement, KTC anticipates accelerating technological development and contributing to the market competitiveness of domestic companies by establishing a bridgehead for cooperation with IAIAC in the AAM sector.

An Sung-il, President of KTC, stated, "This agreement provides a significant momentum for creating the AAM industry ecosystem and advancing the aerospace industry," adding, "We will strive to lead industrial development through continuous collaboration with IAIAC and expanding our network."
