KTC, the World’s No. 1 Testing Certification Institute Leading the Way to the 4th Industrial Revolution
1On the 18th,
the Korea Testing Certification Institute (KTC) announced that it had signed a
business agreement with PLN Icon Plus, a subsidiary of the Indonesian
state-owned power company PLN, to expand cooperation in the field of electric
vehicles' testing and certification technology.
On that day, the signing ceremony was
attended by Febry Calvin Tetelepta, the Senior Advisor for Energy and
Infrastructure Investment at the Indonesian Presidential Office, along with
PLN.
PLN Icon Plus is a company that provides
technology information and communication solutions and is involved in the
exploration of new businesses in the renewable energy sector. They manage the
supply of electric two-wheel and four-wheel vehicles for PLN's business
purposes, as well as the development and operation of associated charging
infrastructure.
Through this business agreement, both
institutions have agreed to promote various activities, including technical
support for legal measurement and power measurement in the field of E-Mobility
(ultra-compact electric mobility) at PLN headquarters and group companies,
information exchange on standardization and technical regulations, capacity
enhancement through seminars and education, the establishment of a cooperation
system for mutual recognition of test results, and the enhancement of
cooperation in Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects.
KTC, after being designated as an overseas
testing institution for *PLN's certification agency in May, has now entered
into this agreement with PLN Icon Plus. It is expected that this collaboration
will expand the scope of support for Korean companies such as Hyundai KEFICO
and E3 Mobility to obtain certification, technical support, and expand their
presence in the Indonesian market.
*PLN Certification Agency (PT PLN (Persero)
Pusat Sertifikasi): A subsidiary of the Indonesian government-owned state
electricity company, PLN, which monopolizes power distribution and is
responsible for testing and certification activities.
The Indonesian government has announced
national plans for carbon reduction and the development of renewable energy,
with the goal of increasing the market share of electric vehicles to 25% by
2030. According to PLN, as of March 2023, there were a total of 6,705 public
electric vehicle charging stations installed throughout Indonesia, with plans
to expand to 190,000 by 2029.
President Sungil Ahn stated, "We will
make efforts to introduce Korea's suitability evaluation system and testing and
certification system for electric vehicle chargers to the Indonesian state
power company. In particular, we will do our best to ensure that Korean
standards are reflected in the Indonesian E-Mobility ecosystem, including
exchangeable batteries and chargers, so that our excellent technology can be
recognized."
