Korea Testing Certification institute, hereinafter referred to as KTC, has announced the successful hosting of a seminar titled "Testing and Certification Services for Expanding Overseas Markets in Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Infrastructure." The event took place on the 7th at the KDG Life Tower and aimed to facilitate the exports of domestic EV charging station manufacturers.
During the seminar, KTC presented insights into the latest trends and international standards in testing and certification technologies within the EV charging station sector, fostering discussions aimed at resolving technical regulatory challenges. These efforts are anticipated to alleviate the certification-related challenges faced by domestic companies operating in the EV charging station sector.
Testing and certifying EV charging stations involves evaluating various aspects, including safety, measurement verification, electromagnetic compatibility, and efficiency management. Different countries have their own policies in place for these evaluations. Furthermore, the recent introduction of new standards and testing certification policies by various countries has posed challenges for companies attempting to formulate export strategies tailored to specific markets.
The global expansion of charging infrastructure is keeping pace with the growth of the EV industry. A German consulting firm, Roland Berger, predicts that the global EV charging station market size will reach approximately $325 billion by 2030, nearly six times larger than the current year's figures. As the associated market experiences rapid growth, the demand for testing and certification services within the EV sector for export by domestic companies continues to rise.
KTC boasts core testing and evaluation capabilities across various fields related to EVs, including information communication, electronic equipment, motors, batteries, and charging stations. Notably, in the EV charging station sector, KTC has been designated as a testing organization by institutions such as UL Solutions in the United States, VDE and TUV Rheinland in Germany, Japan's JET, Cosmos Corporation, UL Japan, and Indonesia's State Electricity Company (PLN). This designation enables KTC to provide comprehensive support for the global exports of domestic companies, spanning regions that include the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
Sungil Ahn, President of KTC, emphasized, "The global expansion of charging infrastructure closely aligns with the growth of the EV industry." He further added, "We are fully committed to supporting the export initiatives of domestic EV charging infrastructure manufacturers who possess excellent technological capabilities and product competitiveness, enabling them to capitalize on overseas market opportunities."
The seminar was organized to bolster the export efforts and global market expansion of Korean companies. This event, hosted by the Ministry of Environment, was orchestrated by KTC in collaboration with Korea Environment Corporation and the Korea Automobile Environmental Association. It attracted the participation of EV charging station manufacturers and various stakeholders.
