KTC, the World’s No. 1 Testing Certification Institute Leading the Way to the 4th Industrial Revolution
KTC Joins the Robot World 2023
Korea Testing Certification institute (KTC) will be the sole testing and certification organization participating in the largest domestic robot exhibition, 'Robot World 2023,' held at KINTEX in Goyang from October 11 to 14.
At this exhibition, KTC plans to provide comprehensive solutions to promote the domestic robot industry and support businesses. The field of robotics is a convergence industry incorporating the latest technologies such as digital twins, autonomous driving, and AI. KTC will introduce testing and certification services in the 13 strategic fields of KTC management, including digital transformation, green transformation, future growth, and nationally important industries, targeting companies with such characteristics.
Due to low birth rates and aging populations, the domestic market for collaborative robots and service robots, which can replace human labor, is expected to expand and proliferate rapidly. This signifies an increased possibility of robots coming into contact with people, emphasizing the need for testing, evaluation, and certification systems to ensure the safety of citizens and the reliability of robot performance.
In response, KTC is providing electrical safety tests and electromagnetic compatibility tests required by the industrial robot autonomous safety confirmation reporting system. Additionally, it enhances support functions for risk assessment, information security, and software testing evaluation to swiftly adapt to changes.
Furthermore, during the exhibition, on October 11, KTC will sign a MOU with the co-organizer of the event, Korea Association of Robot Industry (KAR), to enhance the customer service competitiveness in global testing and certification services. Through this agreement, the two organizations will establish a collaboration system to increase customer satisfaction and reliability in testing and certification in the areas of functional safety, safety and verification support, and robotics and smart appliances, thereby securing technological competitiveness.
The field of robotics is experiencing rapid growth. The global robot industry market is expected to reach $160 billion by 2030 from $25 billion in 2020. The domestic market is predicted to grow from 5 trillion won in 2021 to 87 trillion won in 2030, showing continuous growth trends.
In line with this, KTC supports the development of the domestic robot industry through participation in national R&D projects in the field of robotics, certification consulting, and international standardization activities. KTC is currently participating in the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' R&D project, 'Development of Technology for Demonstration Testing and Evaluation of Unmanned Marine Systems,' contributing to the establishment of a testing and evaluation system for unmanned marine systems. Additionally, KTC is involved in standard development activities for the robot industry's sustained growth through participation in the meetings of ISO TC299 WG2 and WG3.
Sungil Ahn, the president of KTC, stated, "Based on the technology of electrical safety and electromagnetic compatibility testing for industrial robots, we will provide information security and functional safety testing and evaluation services for intelligent robots, supporting related companies." He further expressed, "With this agreement as a starting point, we will provide robot testing and certification services in line with changing industry trends, striving to expand the export and international market share of South Korean robot manufacturing companies."
Meanwhile, Robot World will showcase various robots and automation technologies ranging from manufacturing, specialized services, personal services to logistics robots (AGV/AMR). The exhibition, featuring the participation of 300 companies from 30 countries, will cover 800 booths, and more than 2,000 overseas buyers are expected to attend.
