KTC, the World’s No. 1 Testing Certification Institute Leading the Way to the 4th Industrial Revolution
Aiming to Foster a Globally Competitive Testing and Certification Organization at the Forefront of Digital and Green Transformation
On January 2, Korea Testing Certification institute (KTC) announced the inauguration of Sungil Ahn as the 5th president. Ahn, previously the Deputy Minister for International Trade and Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE), assumes the leadership role.
During the inauguration ceremony, President Ahn expressed his commitment to contribute to KTC's transformation into a "globally competitive testing and certification organization that leads the digital and green transformation of the industry."
To achieve this vision, he emphasized the following objectives: discovering new businesses in the 4th industrial and energy sectors, strengthening support for local innovation and companies' overseas expansion, enhancing customer-centered digital testing and certification services, and fostering a creative organizational culture based on open communication.
President Sungil Ahn entered public service through the 35th High Civil Service Examination, with a background in Police Administration. He holds a master's degree in Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, USA. Throughout his career, he has served in various roles at the Ministry of Information and Communication, including Deputy Director for Industrial Technology and Trade Affairs and Negotiation. At the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE), he held positions such as Director of the Industrial Complex Division, Energy Management Division, Director General for Regional Economic Policies, Director General of the Planning Office of the Free Economic Zone, and Deputy Minister for International Trade and Legal Affairs.
Notably, while serving as the Deputy Director for Trade Affairs and Negotiation at the Ministry of Information and Communication, President Ahn participated as the Deputy Chief of the Telecommunications Division during the negotiation of the South Korea-US FTA. His extensive experience spans diverse policy areas, including IT, industry, energy, and regions, making him a proficient expert in industrial and trade affairs.
