KTC, the World’s No. 1 Testing Certification Institute Leading the Way to the 4th Industrial Revolution
KTC Forges Partnerships with CEPREI and HKCC to Expand Export Opportunities for Korean Companies to China
Korea Testing Certification institute (KTC) has announced plans to visit China starting from November 13 to bolster support for domestic companies exporting to China. During this visit, KTC will ink agreements with China's testing and certification authority, Guangzhou Ceprei certification center services Limited (CEPREI), and the Hong Kong Certification Centre (HKCC) to establish mutual recognition of test results. Additionally, KTC will engage with other Chinese certification bodies, including CVC Testing Technology Co.,Ltd. TÜV Rheinland, SGS-CSTC, and Eurofins, all of which have a global presence in China.
Through these agreements, Korean companies in the electrical and electronic sectors can now obtain certifications simultaneously for China and Hong Kong, leveraging KTC's internationally recognized test result reports. Moreover, KTC staff will be qualified as CCC (China Compulsory Certification) factory inspectors, enabling them to directly conduct factory inspections for Chinese export companies. This streamlines the certification process, allowing Korean companies to obtain certification domestically through KTC, reducing both time and costs.
CCC certification is a system that provides certification according to Chinese national standards for electrical and electronic products manufactured, distributed, or imported into China. Consequently, Korean export companies previously encountered challenges in sending products to China for CCC certification and undergoing factory inspections by Chinese certification authorities, resulting in difficulties related to product production, delivery schedules, and cost burdens.
On the other hand, Hong Kong, as a free trade port, encourages the acquisition of the HK Mark for products related to public health and safety, although there is no mandatory certification.
China is Korea's largest trading partner, accounting for 23% of Korea's total exports in 2022, with exports totaling $156 billion. Within this, the electrical and electronic sector contributed $40.7 billion, constituting a quarter of the total.
Moving forward, KTC has committed to collaborating not only with China, its primary trading partner, on CCC certification but also in various areas such as SW, 5G, EV batteries, chargers, solar modules, inverters, and medical devices.
Sungil Ahn, President of KTC, remarked, "Through these agreements, we aim to alleviate challenges faced by Korean companies in exporting to China. Additionally, we will expand our support to encompass fields such as EV batteries, IoT, solar power generation (PV), semiconductors, and medical devices. Furthermore, we will explore avenues for collaboration with local Chinese certification authorities and global institutions."
Meanwhile, KTC, a prominent global testing and certification organization in the domestic certification industry, has signed agreements with 67 institutions in 36 countries to facilitate overseas certification for Korean companies grappling with technological barriers. Notably, KTC maintains a Shanghai Corporation and a Shenzhen Testing Center in China, serving as a bridgehead for Korean companies seeking to export to China.
