KTC, the World’s No. 1 Testing Certification Institute Leading the Way to the 4th Industrial Revolution
Held on the 27th at a hotel in Pangyo, Gyeonggi Province, with participation from 24 electric vehicle charger manufacturers
Exploring measures to overcome the electric vehicle chasm and support the industry, and strengthening cooperation and networking opportunities

The Korea Testing & Research Institute for Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics (KTC, President Seong-il Ahn) announced on the 1st that it held a 'Technology Conference to Support Electric Vehicle Charger Testing and Certification Services'.
The conference took place on the 27th of last month at the DoubleTree by Hilton Pangyo Hotel in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, with the participation of 24 domestic electric vehicle charger manufacturers and other industry stakeholders.
The conference was divided into two sessions, sharing information on the following topics:
Amendment (draft) of domestic KC safety standards
Current status of overseas electromagnetic compatibility testing and certification
Global metrology technology regulations
Fire prevention charger testing methods
Additionally, the conference provided guidance on the testing methods and procedures and the evaluation system for electric vehicle chargers related to the '2024 Fire Prevention Electric Vehicle Charger Subsidy Program' supervised by the Ministry of Environment, which is set to be introduced globally for the first time in South Korea.
KTC discussed cooperation measures to support the spread of the domestic electric vehicle charging infrastructure standard ecosystem and improve quality, and provided opportunities for technical consultations among the companies.
Electric vehicle chargers require examination and product design according to different certification requirements and technical standards for export and distribution based on the subsidy programs and policies of each country, including safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and metrology evaluations.
KTC is conducting comprehensive testing and certification solution consulting by country and testing field to enhance the global export competitiveness of our companies' electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
Due to the recent electric vehicle chasm (temporary demand stagnation) phenomenon, KTC reviewed support measures for the industry and sought ways to enhance the export competitiveness of domestic manufacturers through this conference.
KTC President Seong-il Ahn stated, “We have provided a venue to address global standards, technical regulations, and business issues concerning domestic and international electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and to promote mutual cooperation. We will continue to do our best to establish a testing and certification ecosystem and enhance competitiveness through continuous development of new technologies and quality improvement by domestic companies.”
