The safety inspection of the imported used electrical products
A person who wishes to import second-hand electrical appliances that are electrical appliances subject to the safety certification requirements or electrical appliances subject to the safety confirmation requirements to sell or lend in South Korea shall, each time the person imports such second-hand electrical appliances and for each model of such appliances, submit a safety test request for imported second-hand electrical appliances that require safety certification and safety confirmation to a safety certification body to get a safety test.
The process of applying for a safety test of the imported used electrical products
- A person who wishes to have a safety test for electrical appliances subject to the safety certification requirements or electrical appliances subject to the safety confirmation requirements shall, each time the person imports such second-hand electrical appliances and for each model of such appliances, submit a safety test request for imported second-hand electrical appliances that require safety certification and safety confirmation to a safety certification body to get a safety test.
- The safety testing agency shall, after receiving a safety test request, check whether the quantity of the imported goods in the test application form and the actual quantity match. Then, the agency shall take samples from each model of the second-hand imported electrical appliances to check their conformance with the criteria for safety testing.
(Caution) In this case, you must obtain an exemption certification from the Korea Products Safety Association for the customs clearance of the samples taken by the safety certification body.
- The safety certification body shall, after the second-hand imported electrical appliances pass the safety test, issue the safety test pass certificate for the electrical appliances subject to the safety certification requirements and the electrical appliances subject to the safety confirmation requirements, along with the safety test tags of the same number as the amount that passed the test.
- The person who received the safety test tags shall attach these tags on to the applicable electrical appliances so that the tags would not fall off.
